CONVENTIONAL WASTEWATER INFRASTRUCTURE IN CUBA Team Gators DALE! University of Florida Introduction Water is essential to all known forms of life. It is fundamental as a solvent for all the major components of cells, is essential to many metabolic processes, and is required for photosynthesis and respiration. The importance of water however, is often overlooked. As Rachel Carson wrote in her 1962 work, Silent Spring, “In an age when man has forgotten his origins and is blind even to his most essential needs for survival, water along with other resources has become the victim of his indifference.” Water thus, the solvent of proteins and DNA in our bodies, also functions as the modern day solution to domestic waste, serving as solvent and transporter to such wastes.

Validation of Instruments for Assessing Drug Safety Management During the Conduction of Clinical Trials
Background The management of drug safety with the collection of reliable safety data during the conduction of clinical trials conduct is essential for the registry and marketing of products. The systematic evaluation of this process, based on objective measures, requires the application of quality instruments. This study was aimed to design and validate eight instruments through the components ...
متن کاملPerformance evaluation of modified up flow septic tanks reactor for treatment of synthetic wastewater
Background and Objective: Considering 829000 annual diarrhoeal deaths due to water pollution worldwide, the World Health Organization has emphasized that countries should reduce this rate by upgrading their wastewater treatment systems. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the performance of a modified up flow septic tanks reactor for treatment of synthetic wastewater. Materials and Metho...
متن کاملEvolution Site Selection by Using an Analytical Hierarchy Process for Decentralized Wastewater Treatment Plants in the City of Qom, Iran
Introduction: Decentralized wastewater treatment facilities are an expensive approach for developing countries. Decentralized wastewater treatment plants (DWWTPs) are a flexible technology. They have low construction and operational costs. Site selection is the most significant stage in the implementation of a DWWTPS. Therefore, the present study aimed to perform a site selection among the prop...
متن کاملDecentralized Robust Power System Stabilizer Design
This paper suggests a method for designing PSS to damp multi-machine power system oscillations. The method is based on robust control theory. First, the conventional method for designing robust controller in LMI framework is illustrated. Then, the suggested method is given, in which, a PID output feedback controller is tuned using the LMI approach. Mostly, the classical methods are used t...
متن کاملChromium removal and water recycling from electroplating wastewater through direct osmosis: Modeling and optimization by response surface methodology
Background: Considering the carcinogenic effects of heavy metals, such as chromium, it is essential to remove these elements from water and wastewater. Direct osmosis is a new membrane technology, which can be a proper alternative to conventional chromium removal processes. Methods: The wastewater samples were collected from an electroplating unit, located in Alborz industrial city, Qazvin, Ir...
